Jakarta, February 23, 2025 – The Indonesian Dispute Board (DSI), in collaboration with the Asian International Dispute Resolution Association (AIDRA) and the Cambodian Center for Mediation (CCM), is proud to host the first-ever International Public Mediation Training in Indonesia from February 19–23, 2025, at the Yello Hotel, Manggarai, Jakarta. Supported by partners like the Southeast Asian Dispute Resolution Network (SEADRN), Halo Mediator, and Kopi Mediation, this five-day training program brings together international experts and local mediators to enhance cross-border dispute resolution skills.
The training, conducted in English, aims to improve the skills, knowledge, and attitudes of Indonesian Dispute Board (DSI) mediators, equipping them to handle international disputes. It features advanced mediation techniques, such as negotiation, reframing, conflict analysis, and communication skills, with a focus on sectors like Oil & Gas, Banking, Environmental Law, and Intellectual Property.
Key international speakers included Abe Quadan, President of AIDRA, and Meas Savath, President of CCM, who shared their expertise in international mediation practices. The program also featured practical roleplay and simulations, providing attendees with hands-on experience in resolving complex commercial and cross-border disputes.
The training is part of DSI’s ongoing commitment to developing a global network of skilled mediators and arbitrators. DSI currently boasts over 5,000 mediators, 776 arbitrators, and over 200 other dispute resolution professionals. This initiative aligns with DSI’s mission to foster international collaboration in alternative dispute resolution, further strengthened by partnerships with organizations in countries such as Singapore, South Africa, Hong Kong, and Australia.
This International Public Mediation Training is a pivotal step for DSI to provide world-class dispute resolution services both in Indonesia and across borders. By establishing high standards and international cooperation, DSI aims to build public trust and offer independent, professional dispute resolution solutions to businesses and individuals worldwide.
